About TicTacBase

Last updated July 27, 2026

TicTacBase is free browser tic-tac-toe you open and play immediately. The home 3×3 is already live — no Play gate, no account wall, no app-store interstitial. Fight the computer with Easy through Impossible, or pass one device for local two-player. Hints suggest a cell with a short English reason.

The thing we care about most is an honest next move. Difficulty levels change how deep the AI searches — not a sticker that says “hard” while still playing randomly. Ultimate pages use real nested boards. Progress stays in this browser’s local storage.

Who this is for

People who want a quick match between meetings. Friends sharing one phone. Learners who want fork patterns without “always win cheat” nonsense. Phone users who tap cells; desktop users who click. Anyone who does not want a multi-game portal or a download package just to place X and O.

If you need 2048, sudoku, Snake, chess, or a wall of thumbnails, that is a different product family on different domains. This site is one game shape: classic and ultimate tic-tac-toe.

What you can open today

  • Home board — classic 3×3 vs computer (medium), Hint, Undo, New game
  • 2 player — same device, pass and play
  • Vs computer — Easy → Impossible
  • Ultimate — nine mini-boards, send rule, meta win
  • How to play — rules and first game, live board
  • How to win — openings, forks, perfect-play habits

AI replies and Hint run in a Web Worker on your device. We do not sync your board to a cloud account because there is no account. You can install TicTacBase as a PWA for its own window and offline-cached pages.

What we do not do

  • No multi-game portal, APK mirror, or “more games” thumbnail farm
  • No WebSocket multiplayer rooms, lobbies, or spectator chat
  • No Google Games / doodle brand clone
  • No “always win hack” product narrative or cheat injectors
  • No school-filter bypass guides or “unblocked games” directories
  • No printable PDF wholesale or paid ranking ladder

Classic rules stay classic: three in a row wins; a full board with no three is a draw. Impossible aims for perfect play on 3×3 — draws against perfect humans, not a cheat tool for elsewhere. That is a puzzle outcome, not a financial or academic credential.

How we talk about the product

Controls keep fixed names so the UI and the guides match: New game, Hint, Undo, difficulty chips, 2 players / Vs AI. Internal links prefer useful names — 2 player, vs computer, ultimate, how to play, how to win — instead of stuffing the same search phrase into every sentence.
