Terms of use

Last updated July 27, 2026

These terms cover TicTacBase — the site, the browser game, the guide pages, and related materials. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, close the tab.

What this site is

TicTacBase offers free browser tic-tac-toe, plus 2-player, vs computer, Ultimate, and how-to pages that keep a live board nearby. Classic grids follow standard three-in-a-row rules. Ultimate adds nested boards and a send rule. Local progress stays in your browser unless you somehow copy it elsewhere yourself. Hints suggest a cell with a short reason; they are coaching aids, not a guarantee you will win every game.

Using the site does not create a professional, advisory, fiduciary, tutoring, or employment relationship. This is a game — not financial advice, not medical advice, not a school-filter workaround, and not an accredited course.

As-is availability

The site is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind — including accuracy of hints, perfect play on every seed, completeness of guides, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted uptime. We may change controls, rename pages, pause features, or take the site offline.

Local storage can be cleared by you, by browser settings, or by extensions. We are not responsible for a score or board that disappears after a data wipe, a profile switch, or a device change.

Your play, your breaks

You decide how long to play. Take breaks. Do not treat an Impossible clear or a win streak as something you owe anyone. If a Hint conflicts with how you want to play, ignore it — the board still accepts your moves.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TicTacBase and its operators are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of or reliance on the site, including but not limited to:

  • Lost local boards, scores, or preferences
  • Time spent following a Hint that was not optimal
  • Device performance, battery use, or browser crashes
  • Downtime, broken links, or third-party analytics/ad behavior if those are enabled later
  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

If something is wrong, tell us via contact. Fixing a bug when we can does not mean we underwrite your win rate or accept liability for decisions you already made.

Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability for claims relating to the site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us specifically to use TicTacBase in the twelve months before the claim (currently $0 for free use) or (b) USD $50, to the extent such a limit is enforceable.

Acceptable use

  • Play and practice for personal use
  • Do not use the site to distribute malware, phishing, or cheat injectors
  • Do not scrape the site for bulk dumps or republish substantial content as your own commercial product without permission
  • Do not overload or automate the AI Worker in a way that harms availability
  • Do not misrepresent TicTacBase as an app store, multiplayer service, multi-game portal, or Google Games product
  • Do not use the site to harass, spam, or break applicable law

Intellectual property

Site chrome, copy, and our specific combination of vs AI difficulty, local two-player, Ultimate tooling, and Hint UX are part of TicTacBase. Classic tic-tac-toe rules are widely known; we do not claim to own the idea of a 3×3 grid. Do not copy our pages wholesale or frame them inside another commercial shell.

Privacy

How local storage, analytics, ads, and email work is described in privacy. That policy sits alongside these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top changes when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree, stop using the site.
